Curricular Engagement with the Prior

The Prior Performing Arts Center supports meaningful engagement with the arts for students across the College, advancing the Holy Cross’ commitment to inclusive excellence by exposing students to models of creative practice that emphasize process, experimentation, and risk.

In the center’s first year of operation, 2022-2023, 36 out of 64 academic units engaged with programming and classes at the Prior. We look forward to partnering with colleagues from every department to foster innovative experiential learning opportunities inspired by the multidisciplinary arts, and we welcome your ideas about ways you might draw on the center’s unique resources in your teaching.

Artists in the Prior Presents series are typically available for classroom visits and other curricular connections while in residence at Holy Cross. To explore the possibility of connecting your class with a visiting artist, contact Marta Beyer at mbeyer@holycross.edu. Prior staff will be glad to provide preparatory materials for your students in conjunction with the Prior Presents series, work with you to develop links to your curriculum, or visit your class for a pre-show discussion or post-event debrief.

Term-length teaching in the Prior Performing Arts Center is scheduled by the Registrar. To bring your class to the center for a specific learning event or experience unrelated to the visiting artist series, contact Shannon LoCascio at slocasio@holycross.edu.

Faculty and Staff Discount

Faculty and staff benefit from discounted tickets for all Prior Presents events. We are pleased to offer a 20% faculty and staff discount attached to your faculty/staff email address to be used for up to two seats per performance.
