Production Technician
Reporting to the Manager of Production, the Production Technician serves as production electrician and stage supervisor for The Prior Performing Arts Center. Core responsibilities include: (1) helping with preparation, hang, focus, and notes for the lighting designs for productions; (2) executing stage lighting and performance staging for other departmental events, student and academic gatherings, and performances by visiting artists; and (3) serving as a stage supervisor and/or lead production staff for events and performances held during evenings and weekends.
Pro Audio/Video Technician
Reporting to the Pro AudioVideo Supervisor, this technician will assist in all aspects of audio, video and multimedia for all production and event services at The Prior Performing Arts Center, including livestreaming, recording and editing. This position is responsible for the healthy functioning of the Booth Media Lab, maintenance of software and firmware of Prior’s A/V products, recording and video editing suites and design studio. The Technician will offer professional support in venues for the Department of Theater & Dance, the Department of Music, and the Prior Presents series. The ideal candidate is invested in all phases of audio/video production from creation to finished product, as well as providing excellent service and ideas to visiting artists. Along with the Pro Audio/Video Supervisor, this position will help train employees, contractors and students in safe electrical and venue protocols as needed. This position will also work closely with a campus-wide A/V department for multimedia needs in Prior classroom environments. The Pro Audio/Video Technician will assist the Pro Audio/Video Supervisor in planning and budgeting purchases, as well as allocation, maintenance and inventory of audio equipment, video equipment, and related expendables.
Production Coordinator I, II, III (part-time per diem)
As part of the Department of Theatre & Dance and reporting to the Chair, the Production Coordinator will work directly with the Chair, the Professor of Design and Technology, and key partners at the Prior Performing Arts Center to ensure smooth execution of the department’s production work. The hours for the position include significant time outside of teaching and accompanying required to prepare for the rehearsals, performances, juries and other duties.
Theatre Operations Technician
Provides various technical support and operates specialized theatrical equipment with minimal supervision for productions and events for the Prior Performing Arts Center. With technical knowledge, the Theater Operations Technician pool provides all manner of production services including lighting, audio, video, rigging, staging, wardrobe, stage management, and/or front-of-house assistance. This position assists with productions spanning multiple genres such as music, dance, theater, and lectures. Technicians should have a sufficient knowledge of theatrical systems and front-of-house / back-of-house etiquette. Supervision received by The Prior staff.
