Memory is a concert curated for Polytope Music’s 2026 residency program at Holy Cross. An immersive, interactive work featuring Jie Ma, pipa player (traditional Chinese lute), Brian Foreman, percussionist and electronic musician, and Professor Brian Saia, sound designer.
Where thousands of years of eastern tradition meet music technology, it’s an evening that asks the question: what does it mean to remember through sound?
The performance is the culmination of a residency that brings Polytope Music into the classroom, where students work alongside the artists to explore how tradition and technology can be woven into living sound. As the past speaks to the present, Memory does what music has always done best — it draws us toward connection across generations and cultures, time and space.
