This program includes the first movements of Haydn’s Sunrise Quartet, Mozart’s Dissonance Quartet, and Schubert’s Death and The Maiden Quartet. 

These selections trace the evolution of the string quartet, from Haydn’s radiant classical ideals to Schubert’s dramatic expressiveness, and demonstrate the development of the string quartet through the 18th and 19th centuries.
